SideRail support
Help with your screen-edge launcher, file access, and Pro purchases.
Contact TechNICKal LLC
Email nicholas@technickalapps.com. Include your SideRail version, macOS version, and the steps that led to the issue. Settings → Help → Send Feedback prepares an email for you to review. Attach only information you want support to receive, and remove unrelated personal details.
Open the sidebar and Settings
Move your pointer to the handle at your chosen screen edge. Click an item to launch it. Control–Option–Command–Space opens the sidebar from the keyboard when the hotkey is enabled in Settings. Use arrow keys and Return, 1–9 to launch directly, or Escape to close it.
Click SideRail’s menu-bar icon to open Settings. Choose the screen edge in Position and adjust the size, labels, and material in Appearance. Replay the welcome screen from Help. SideRail has no Dock icon. If it is no longer running, open it from Applications.
Open files with an app
Drag files from Finder onto an app shortcut in the sidebar. The highlighted app opens the documents. This works in Free and Pro. The receiving app must support those files. App bundles can be pinned with Pro; drop documents separately from app bundles. SideRail does not modify or upload the documents.
Free and Pro
Free includes ten fixed starter items, your choice of screen edge and appearance, keyboard navigation, and drag-to-open files. The browser item follows the default browser configured on your Mac.
Pro is one permanent in-app purchase, with no subscription. It adds your own apps, websites, files, folders and Apple Shortcuts; unlimited items; reordering; Personal and Work layouts; and advanced display behavior. Open Settings → SideRail Pro to see the current App Store price in your currency before purchasing.
Restore Pro
In Settings → SideRail Pro, choose Restore Purchases using the Apple Account that made the purchase. An internet connection may be needed. Pending purchases unlock after Apple approves them. If the store is unavailable, retry later. Restoring Pro restores access to paid features; it does not recover deleted layouts.
Downloads, files, and shortcuts
If Downloads needs permission, select your Downloads folder in the macOS picker. SideRail stores a read-only permission bookmark. If a pinned file or app has moved or been removed, add it again from its current location with Pro.
Optional system toggles use Apple Shortcuts. Choose Set Up in Quick Setup, then confirm Add Shortcut in Apple Shortcuts. You control the permissions of each shortcut.
Layouts, login, and data
SideRail saves settings and layouts locally on your Mac, with no SideRail account or cloud sync. Pro layouts can be switched from the menu bar or Items settings. Manage launch at login in SideRail Settings or macOS System Settings → General → Login Items.
For local data deletion instructions and information about support email, read the SideRail privacy policy. Removing SideRail leaves your original files intact.
